Facilities at Pine Grove Crematorium and Remembrance Center

Pine Grove Crematorium ExteriorPine Grove Crematorium and Remembrance Center is nestled amongst the pine trees and the natural surroundings of Pine Grove Cemetery. David R. Merritt, AIA did a wonderful job of designing a cottage styled structure that would blend into this area and also provide an ample space for the people that we serve. Our goal was to operate a facility that was comforting to surviving families of the people we serve.

The Remembrance Center is a multi-function space that can accommodate a less formal gathering or reception, or can be reset to have structured seating for a more formal committal or memorial service for 40 people or less. There is a small kitchen that can be used for catering a small gathering for folks that want quaint surroundings or a place for a gathering after a grave side service at Pine Grove Cemetery. The Remembrance Center can also be used for committal prayers for families that have selected a traditional service with a cremation casket, and would like to complete a processional to Pine Grove Crematorium.

The viewing room is used for families that would like to be present to witness the cremation. Some families want to be present for the cremation as a way to work through their grief. This is much like a family staying at a cemetery to actually see a casket be placed in the earth, and maybe even help to fill in the grave. Survivors can view the remains being placed into the cremator from the viewing window. If they choose, they then can wait till the cremation process has been completed to take their loved one with them. Through our experience as funeral directors we have found that there is a certain segment of the population that want inclusiveness of the cremation process.
